Remodeling in Fort Lauderdale

We remodel kitchens and bathrooms in Fort Lauderdale, and we take on full renovations and interior painting. We come see the space before we put a number on it.

The houses here

Built in the boom

Fort Lauderdale grew fast after the war. The 1950 census counted about 36,328 people here, and the 1960 census counted 83,648, roughly 230 percent of the number ten years before.

Plenty of what went up then is still standing. Those houses reach us with the original kitchen footprint and a bathroom that was tiled once and left alone after that.

We look at what is worth keeping before anything comes out.

On the water

Canal houses

Fort Lauderdale gets called the Venice of America, and the city has 165 miles of inland waterways.

If your house backs onto a canal, the air it lives in is damp and salty. It finds hardware and hinges first. Keep the A/C running while we work so paint and grout cure the way they should.

Historic districts

Three in the city

Fort Lauderdale has three locally designated historic districts. Sailboat Bend is the largest, with over 550 buildings in the southwestern part of town.

Our work happens inside the house, so a kitchen or a bathroom does not change what the street sees. If your project also touches the outside of a historic home, the city's historic preservation staff is the first call. Tell us the district when you book.

City permits

Who handles what

Inside city limits, Building Services issues permits and does the building inspections, and it holds work to the Florida Building Code.

Broward runs differently from Palm Beach County. The county's Board of Rules and Appeals considers amendments to the code and hears appeals on what a building official decides.

What your job may need comes up at the visit.

Questions

Fort Lauderdale questions

More questions

I live in a condo. Can you work in my building?

Yes, once your association clears it. Confirm the building's documents allow the project first. Most associations ask owners for a form with the scope of work and who is doing it.

My neighborhood has an association. Does that change anything?

It can. Over 60 neighborhoods in the city have official recognition, and many of them run an association with its own rules about access and work hours. Bring those rules to the visit.

Do you paint the outside of the house?

No. We work inside. Walls and ceilings, trim and wallpaper.

Can I get a price over the phone?

No. Christhian sees the space, then we price it.
